DLGFA - Weekly Update 18th January 2009

2008 was a very successful year for Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football. Our aim for 2009 is to be even more successful. Last year 57 clubs were affiliated with 231 teams competing in all competitions.The registration figures had increased from 4,400 to 5,175. New members are always welcome and can locate the club nearest them with all the relevant contact details from the website. 8 clubs have started the Gaelic for Mothers programme and others are likely to follow in 2009. Dublin Minor Trials 2009

In 2008 our Minors won the Leinster Championship and Dublin’s first Minor All Ireland Title. Dublin play Challenge game against the Royals

Dublin & Meath Senior Ladies Footballers on Sunday 11.1.2009 played a challenge game in ODwyers GAA Club in Balbriggan. Both Counties used the occasion to give new players to their panel a run out.  In less than ideal conditions both teams produced some fine football. Mearnog/Syls the Magnificent Sevens in 2008

Naomh Mearnog/St Sylvesters headed down to Kerry after lifting the All Ireland Sevens title to participate in a sevens tournement ran by www.gettheedgeinkerry.com. There were eight teams involved in the tournament, with teams attending from Cork, Dublin, Meath, and Limerick. The tournament was held over one day starting at 10am and completed by 5pm. Its official! Young Girls are turning to Dublin Ladies Football Once again it has been a record year for Dublin Ladies Football. Brigids complete U16 Double

St Brigids U16 panel for 2008 today completed the second half of a Championship and League double.The Under 16 St Brigid’s girls football team finished the season in style on the 14th of December when they added the Division 1 league title to the championship which they won November 23rd .
