No it was not Pilar Caffery in his Garda uniform.You will no doubt read of the exploits of the Cork team or the dejection of the girls from Monaghan. But during the interval, a juvenile team from Cork Cubs and Schools went up against a Monaghan side in a mini-match. Well done Naomh Mearnog/St Sylvesters on winning Dublins first All Ireland Senior Sevens Championship. Also well done to Na Fianna on winning Dublins first Senior Shield Sevens title. Dublin clubs won both senior titles that were on offer. On a sun socked evening, 27th September 2008 to be exact.A Dublin club finally captured the Senior All Ireland Sevens Title. The closest a Dublin team had come to taking this title was the mighty Portobello finished runner up to Padraig Pearses of Roscommon in 1999. The sevens tournament has been running since 1985, which is the curtain raiser for the All Ireland county finals the following day in Croke Park.
