Dubs U16 Stars Medal Presentation:

The Dublin U16 team winners of this year’s Leinster title and All Ireland runners were presented with their medals at a special ceremony held in Ballyboden St Endas last Friday evening.

Dublin had an excellent unbeaten run in the Leinster championship and the young Dubs also put in a powerful display against Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final unfortunately the Dubs meet an experienced and very talented Kerry team in the final who having lost to Dublin in last year’s decider where determined that the girls from the Capital where not going to achieve the double over the Kingdom in 2011.

Despite a spirited come back by Dublin in the second half Kerry got some vital scores and held out to bring the crown to the Kingdom for the first time since 1999.

The Dublin management team of Fearghall Brennan, Pat McGrath, Pat Kane, Karen Flood and Hannah Tyrell were extremely proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by their panel of players throughout this year’s campaign and thanked them all for their dedication to the blue jersey in 2011.

At the presentation on Friday evening, Maria McGrath (Ballyboden St Endas) was named as the Dublin U16 Player of the Year while Olwen Carey (Thomas Davis) was named as Most Improved Player of the Year, congratulations to both girls.
