Dublin clubs in All Ireland semi final action this weekend!

  • Nov 04,2011

Two Dublin clubs are in All Ireland semi-final action this Sunday.

Dublin and Leinster senior champions Na Fianna will have their work cut out against a formidable Donoughmore team who recaptured the Cork and Munster senior titles this year.

Juliet Murphy and Rena Buckley would be well-known Donoughmore players but Cork champions also have amongst their ranks former County players Regina Curtain, Linda and Aisling Barrett and Cork Camogie star Gemma O’Connor.

Donoughmore are a hugely experienced outfit having won the All-Ireland title back in 2003 but were also runners up in the competition in 2004 and 2009.

Na Fianna may have a slight edge by having the game on their home turf and will look to Dublin stars Mary Nevin and Bernie Finlay to lead the Glasnevin attack while former Mayo Stars Ciara McDermott and Claire O’Hara along with the Armagh twins Alma and Bronagh O’Donnell will bring much needed experience to the Na Fianna cause.

Throw in is 2pm in Mobhi Road, admission is €10 adult, €5 students / OAP’s with U16’s FREE of charge. NOTE: there will be no car parking facilities in the club grounds on Sunday.

St Sylvester’s meanwhile have a trip to Tipperary to look forward to as they take on Munster champions Aherlow in the All-Ireland Junior semi-final also on Sunday.
Sinead Aherne has been in superb form for the Malahide crew and was rewarded with the Player of the Match award for the Leinster final win over St Laurences of Kildare.

Aherlow are an unknown outfit but showed quality when they defeated Cork champions, Dromina by two points in the Munster final.  Sylvester’s will make the journey to Sean Tracey Park in optimistic form having had a good Dublin and Leinster campaign but will be cautious of the Tipperary Champions.

Best of luck to both clubs and their respective management teams!
