Parnells book their place in Semi-final..

The run in for second place in group 1 of the TESCO Intermediate was an interesting one, up until last night Ballinteer St Johns had played all their group games and had amassed six points meanwhile Parnells had one game in hand to Garda away, if Parnells defeated the Garda they would qualify for the semi-final as runners up in this group.
Potentially and very much subject to results three clubs up until last night where in the chase to claim the all-important second spot and book their place the final four of the championship
So with it all to play for Parnells made the journey to the Garda HQ in Westmanstown to keep their date with the girls in blue. Parnells still aching from last year’s final defeat to Clanna Gael Fontenoy had it all to do and with County players, Emma Merrigan, Avril Cluxton, Niamh McEvoy, Lyndsey Peate and Sinead Cumiskey amongst their ranks the “nells” had the know how to get the job done!
In the end despite of a heroic display by Garda the Coolock girls proved to be too robust and ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 4-16 to 0-04.
So the TESCO Intermediate championship semi-final pairing are now confirmed, Kilmacud Crokes unbeaten in the groups stages will be play Round Towers of Clondalkin. Whilst Clontarf and Parnells will contest the second semi-final with both games being played on Wednesday the 6th of July.
The Intermediate final will take place in Parnell Park on Friday the 22nd of July as a curtain raiser to the senior final with the throw in time down for 7pm.
