Dubs Aherne "makes Irish Leaving Cert Paper"..
- Jun 14,2011
Dublin’s Sinéad Aherne has achieved a fair view honours and won many awards during her football career and has rightfully been acclaimed as one of the greatest forwards to have donned the Sky Blue jersey and is often spoken off in the same terms as Dublin scoring legends as Brogan, Keaveney and Rock.
Politician John Hume was recently voted “Ireland’s Greatest” in a public poll conducted by RTÉ.
So what does the 2010 All Star and the 1998 Nobel Prize winner got in common?
Well yesterday the first Leaving Certificate Irish papers were taken at higher and ordinary level and both Sinéad Aherne and John Hume where two subjects in the comprehension section!
ASTI’s Robbie Cronin was quoted as saying “Another piece about Dublin footballer Sinéad Ahearne was excellent”
Clare Grealy of the Institute of Education said “two comprehensions, one about John Hume, and the other about Gaelic footballer Sinéad Ahearne, were “straightforward”.
Sinéad has truly being recognised as one of Dublin’s and indeed Ireland’s sporting legends!
