Dublin continued their winning ways in division 2 of the Bord Gáis Energy NFL with a 19 point way over Waterford, full time score Dublin 3-19 Waterford 1-06.

Despite the tally on the score board the game was a competitive affair and was played at a very fast pace. Full credit has to go to Waterford although they lagged behind Dublin in most sectors of the field they never gave up and took the game to the Dubs the best they could.

Dublin got off to an excellent start with a point from Amy McGuinness and just ten minutes into the second half Dublin were awarded a penalty which Sinead Aherne duly dispatched to the left of Waterford keeper Aimee Jordan.

Dublins dominance continued throughout the first half with some superb point taking from the hard working Elaine Kelly and veteran Mary Nevin. Amy Ring from Foxrock Cabinteely bagged herself a fine goal and the Dubs led at the break 2-11 to 0-01, Waterfords only first half score was a free in the 19th minute of play from Michelle Ryan.

The second half was again played at a fast pace with Waterford trying hard to break through the Dublin defence.

Waterford’s hard word finally paid off when Trish Fitzgerald rounded off an excellent piece of inter passing from the Waterford forwards and rifled the ball past the diving Cliodhna OConnor.

The Dubs stepped up a gear and continued to work hard for each other, late in the second half Sinead Aherne rattled the Waterford net for a second time and secured another valuable three league points.
