DUBLIN 2-17 ARMAGH 1-4
Dublin ladies senior footballers opened their Division 2 Bord Gais Energy National League campaign with a crushing 16-point defeat of Armagh at a rain-sodden and windswept Lawless Memorial Park in Swords on Sunday afternoon.

In what was Tommy Browne’s first competetive game in charge he saw his side lead by five points at the break 0-8 to 0-3 after playing against the stiff breeze. Sinead Aherne and Lyndsey Davey with a hatrick of points apiece while another of the All Star class of 2010 Amy McGuinness playing on her home club pitch clipped over a brace of points.

The visitors may have got the games first goal after the restart but it was Dublin who really powered home as a brace of goals from substitute Orlagh Egan (Na Fianna) helped significantly to open up the gap between the sides.

Dublin who played with a completely new full-back line from last year’s All Ireland success can be pleased with their performance and look forward to their next outing which is away next weekend to Tipperary.
