Dublin v Armgh - Change of Venue

  • Feb 03,2011

Press Release on behalf of the Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Association
Thursday 3rd of February 2011:

The Bord Gáis Energy division 2 tie between All Ireland Champions Dublin and Armagh will now take place in Fingallians GAA Club, Lawless Memorial Park, Swords on Sunday the 6th of February @ 12:00 noon.

This exciting opening tie in the NFL is Dublin’s first competitive game since winning the All-Ireland crown last September and was originally down to be played in Parnell Park.

Shane Ryan’s last gasp winning point in the Walsh Cup SF versus Galway last Saturday night resulted in the hurling final between Dublin and Kilkenny being fixed for the Donnycarney venue resulting in a direct clash of date and time with the Ladies NFL game.

The clash of fixtures was thought to have been resolved when the Dublin v Armagh game was moved to an earlier throw in time of 12:00 noon with the hurling final remaining at 2pm. Earlier in the week other issues arose around the suitability & availability of changing facilities which led the Dublin LGFA to move their fixture to the Swords venue.

Dublin Chairperson, Maureen King is disappointed that accommodation couldnt be reached with the Dublin GAA Board when the Dublin Hurlers were allocated the 2pm throw-in time as this time slot was originally allocated to the Ladies All-Ireland Champions for their opening game of the Bord Gáis Energy NFL.

Despite this setback, Dublin Ladies will continue to foster the concept of Team Dublin to embrace all Gaelic Codes in the County and we wish the Dublin Hurlers best wishes in the Walsh Cup Final on Sunday.

The Dublin LGFA would like to thank most sincerely Fingallians GAA for stepping in at such short notice and making their facilities available to the County.  We would also like to thank the Armagh Ladies and their management team for their support in accommodating the changes at such notice.

Admission rates previously advertised for Parnell Park will also apply in Swords: Adults €8, students and OAP’s €4, U14’s FREE, Family Rate of 2 adults and 2 children €10, one adult free with every group of ten U14’s.

The young stars of tomorrow from Parnells, Clontarf, Naomh Barróg and Na Fianna will provided the half time entertainment with a series of mini games. While the winner of our Dublin mascot competition will be announced tomorrow.

The Dublin LGFA apologise to all supporters for any inconvenience that the late change of venue may cause but would strongly appeal for fans to make the trip to Swords and support our girls in blue!

END.
