OConnor named as new Dublin Captain

Cliodhna OConnor of Naomh Mearnóg has been named as the new Dublin Ladies Senior Captain for 2011. Cliodhna succeeds club mate Denise Masterson who has stepped down from the Captains role after wearing the Dublin arm band for the last number of years.

Denise of course will go into the history books as the first Dublin Captain to have lifted the Brendan Martin cup a pertinent finale to her captaincy

Cliodhna will bring to the task over eight years’ experience in the sky blue jersey having first come into the senior panel back in 2002.

In those eight years she has amassed a bundle of experience along with 1 senior All Ireland, 6 Leinster senior medals, 2 All Stars and was recently named on the TG4 Team of the Decade.

The 26 year old currently works as an Urban Programme Officer for the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and is based in Croke Park. She studied English and Music in UCD and also studied International Communications in DCU where she won an OConnor cup medal back in 2009.

Sorcha Furlong (St Brigids) has been named as Dublin Vice Captain.
