Brendan Martin Cup visits Student Teachers in Marino

  • Oct 13,2010
It was with great pride that the student teachers and staff of Coláiste Mhuire, Marino Institute of Education welcomed the Brendan Martin Cup and Dublin goalkeeper Clíodhna O Connor to the College on Monday 11th October. The occasion was particularly relevant to the college as one of their second year students, Niamh Mc Evoy, lined out for the Girls in Blue during the All-Ireland final. Marino has a proud Gaelic Games tradition and an active GAA club and the arrival of the cup served as a launching pad for its next initiative; Ladies GaGa. This concept of recreational and non-competitive Gaelic football is very appealing to the population of student teachers, given that approx 90% or more are female! Futhermore it is hoped that this interest in Ladies football will remain with these student teachers as they enter into the teaching profession. Comhghairdeas to all those involved and best wishes to the Ladies Gaelic football team in their league and championship campaigns. Marino abú!
