LEINSTER Under 14 SEMI-FINAL

DUBLIN 4-14 ; LAOIS 2-06

A great win by Dublin in the Leinster semi-final, where through sheer guts
and determination in the second half the game was won for the Dublin Girls.

The first half saw an unusual very nervy start by our girls where nothing
seemed to go right. The girls seemed to be second to every ball and let the Laois girls put untold pressure on our defence. Laois were winning battles all over the park and it was a struggle to go in at half time two points up.

At half time the girls couldnt understand what was going wrong but manager Maurice Brew soon put things right with a detailed description of how he wanted the second half played and it sunk in. He left his
centre-half back and captain Muireann Ni Scannaill with the final
encouragement to the girls before the second half and out they went.

The second half saw the real Dublin team turn up as they racked up score
after score to break the Laois girls hearts. The substitutions made by the
manager seemed to do the trick as the two girls who came on scored a goal and two points each. They ran riot against a Laois defence who didnt have an answer for either of them.

This group of girls are such a great bunch, the support from the sideline
subs was unreal, cheering and encouraging their team-mates from start to
finish.

The player of the match for Dublin was Eabha Rutledge who never stopped
attacking and defending, working tirelessly all night.

Now the girls realise that they are not going to be handed any silverware
this year unless they continue to work hard from start to finish.

Well done to all the girls for showing great character and commitment in
being able to step up to the challenge put up to them tonight.

Congratulations from Maurice and all his management team on getting to the Leinster Final – now go on and win it girls!!!

A big thank you to Deirdre Colgan and all at St Margarets for their
hospitality and to all the parents for their continued support
