Congratulations to the Dublin Senior B Squad and management after a narrow win against near neighbours Kildare in the All Ireland Semi Final of the Aisling Mc Ging Championship on Sunday evening in Na Fianna. The final socre line was 2-9 to 1-9. The girls now play Cork in the final on the 22nd August which will be shown Live on TG4.
Congratulations to St. James’ Gaels, Na Fianna, Lucan Sarsfields and St. Maurs on winning the Dublin Junior E, D, C and B Championships respectively at Innisfails on Saturday last. Congratulations also goes to the Player of the Match Award winners - Ashling Dempsey, St. James’ Gaels, Dayna McDonald, Whitehall Colcille, Emma Cooney, Lucan Sarsfields and Eadaoin McGuinness, St. Maurs. Many thanks to Innisfails for the use of the facilities and for looking after everyone so well on the day. Thanks too to County Secretary Eugene Egan for producing such a quality programme for the occasion.
Well done to the Dublin u16s on securing a draw in the All-Ireland Shield final against Mayo in Tarmonbarry on Saturday last. The final score was Dublin 4-9 Mayo 3-12. Mayo equalised with the second last kick of the game. It was a great overall team performance by the Dublin girls with particular impressive displays from Jessica Wall, Grainne Barrett, Nicole Owens, Lauren Ebbs, Aoife Caffrey, captain and prolific scorer, Siobhan Killeen. We await the replay with great anticipation.
The Senior Girls team will play Kerry in their TG4 All Ireland 1/4 on 22nd August, fixture details to follow. Support welcome.
The Michael Murphy Perpetual Cup which is presented to the Dublin Ladies Senior Club Championship winners annually will have a new home this year as nine in a row champions (2000-08), Ballyboden St. Enda’s were defeated by Naomh Mearnóg last Wednesday in a play off. The victors will now play Na Fianna in the final on Friday, September 11th . It will be preceded by the Intermediate Championship final between Garda and St. Brigid’s. Venue to be confirmed. The Intermediate Shield final will take place at Russell Park at 7pm on Friday 28th August between Clontarf and Lucan Sarsfields. It will be followed by the Junior A final at 8.15pm between Thomas Davis and the winners of the second semi-final between St. Margarets and St. Peregrines.
As the monies for the TG4 All-Ireland finals ticket allocation is now overdue from the Dublin Ladies Board to Central Council it is imperative that the €150 owing from the majority of Clubs is forwarded to Una Kilpatrick immediately.
