Lá na gClub Buìochas
- May 19,2009
A chairde,
Last weekend our Association’s 125 Celebrations reached new levels in so many parishes across the country and we write thanking clubs who worked so hard to organise excellent events last Sunday on what was a memorable day for the GAA.
Having visited a host of clubs over the course of the weekend we witnessed first hand the energy, enthusiasm and pride involved in events that were organised with the intention of involving ALL members of clubs in the weekend activities.
Our 125 Committee purposely sought a weekend free of inter-county fixtures when the idea of Lá na gClub was first mooted and the decision to grant this was an important one.
It enabled members from the different sections of clubs to come together and celebrate their membership of not only the GAA but of their home clubs and the quality of organisation and entertainment underlined the strong bonds across the island – and further afield – that exist between our club units and their members.
Travelling across the country on Sunday and listening to reports as we went, it was clear to us that the majority of our clubs organised excellent events that marked in their own special way the links between their unit and their host community.
To those who worked so hard to help illuminate the weekend we offer a sincere thank you from Croke Park and hope that your club benefits from the goodwill and positive feedback that the weekend gave rise to.
It was heartening to see a special emphasis on family, culture and of course our games and we want to acknowledge in particular those clubs who share their anniversaries with the Association and who are themselves celebrating 125 years in existence.
Míle buíochas agus go néirí go geall libh.
Ar aghaidh len ár gcluichi,
Páraic Ó Dufaigh – Ard Stiúrthóir
Criostóír Ó Cuana – Uachtarán
