Dublin U14s Cruise to Leinster Semi-final On Saturday last, the Dublin U14s Ladies beat Wicklow 10-14 to 4-2 to book their place in the Leinster semi-final next weekend. Dublin topped the group stage of the Leinster championship on Saturday with a very comprehensive victory over Wicklow in Westmanstown Sports Centre. This completes a five in a row for the talented youngsters in their campaign.
The half & full forward line got off to a great start with notching up 2-4 in the first 15 minutes without reply from Wicklow due to stern defence work from the from the Dublin Midfields & backs. Wicklow then found their feet & exchanged several scores with Dublin to a pulsating finish to the first half with the scores at 5-7 to 3-1 to Dublin. After the break Dublin showed their class with some lovely display of skill & talent. With the wind in Dublin’s favour the half forward line racked up the scores. Wicklow could do little to pass the half back line in the second half & were only able to get two more scores to complete the final score in Dublin favour 10-14 to 4-2.
After Dublin’s display in the group stage of the Leinster championship, the 14s management team hope the summer of 2009 will be a football filled summer & with the talent of the Dublin girls that has been displayed so far, Dublin U14s girls may have a long wait for their holidays. All support welcome next weekend for Dublin’s Leinster semi-final showdown.
