Leinster U12 Ladies Football Blitz - Carlow - June 1, 2009

  • Jun 06,2009

Allez Les Bleus!!!

Carlow resembled ‘Monte Carlo’ last Monday as a sun drenched haven in the South of France for the annual ‘Leinster U12 Girls Gaelic Football Blitz’.

Dublin was represented by 3 teams and the ‘Girls in Blue’ participated in a fantastic display of football accompanied by glorious sunshine, colourful tourists from all Leinster counties, picnic tables & chairs, laughter and song including one ‘Happy Birthday to Emma’, our goalie.

Although the 3 teams were assembled just two days previously and enjoyed less than one hour of football together, the results were astonishing as one team came second in the final, whilst the other two teams were pipped in entertaining semi-final shoot-outs.

Undoubtedly the result was incredible, but the lifelong memories, fun and friendships formed by the girls will live for a considerable time to come. It was a privilege for the parents and mentors alike to witness ‘Les Bleus’ in action.

Having reflected on a fantastic day of pure enjoyment Ken and the Dublin mentors would like to thank Margaret Brennan and her team at ‘Comhairle Laighean’ for successfully organising a wonderful event and hopefully we will get an opportunity to meet up again soon.

Yours in sport – Dublin U12 mentors.
