Dublin plays its final game in the league series of the Bord Gais Energy National League next Sunday 15th March against Clare. Victory will guarantee them top seeding from Division 1B and they will play the fourth seeded team from Division 1A. See website for further details on the possible permutations. Your support is welcome, game throws in at 2pm in Naomh Mearnog (Portmarnock GAA Club)
The Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Board will convene two meetings this month. The first which will take place tonight, Tuesday 10th in Parnell Park at 7.30pm is a Special Advisory Meeting of the County Board to deal principally with the 2009 fixtures and related matters.At least one registered member from each club is required to be in attendance. The second is the ordinary County Board meeting which will take place on Tuesday 24th March at the same time and venue.
Congratulaitons to Denise Masterson Dublin Senior Captain and Naomh Mearnog on picking up the Dublin GAA Supporters Club, Ladies Player of the year award.
Congratulations to Lyndsey Davey of Dublin and Skerries Harps on her Evening Herald/HALIFAX Dublin GAA Player of the month award for February.
Congratulations to Cuala GAA club on hosting round 1 of RTE’s Reality TV show, Celebrity Bainisteoir. Well done to the Cuala ladies team who opened proceedings ahead of the main event and beat the visiting Dromahair side from Co. Leitrim by 5-12 to 3-8. The game was refereed by Niamh Barrett, Kilmacud Crokes. Aoife McGovern, captain and Ruth Egan scored 5-6 of their side’s total between them.
Congratulations to Dublin senior panellist, Niamh McEvoy Junior, on captaining her school side Scoil Iosa, Malahide to victory in the Leinster C Senior Schools competition against Presentation De La Salle, Bagenalstown, Carlow last week. They won after extra time by 5-12 to 4-9. Well done to their mentor, Dermot Washington, on a great coaching job. Niamh also received the Player of the Match award.
The Ladies Football Annual Congress was held in Newry last weekend and the most significant change introduced was that of the Sin Bin for all grades from u14 upwards. This will come into force in a month’s time.
Also a smoking ban has been introduced for all officials on the sideline.
Only one of Dublin’s four motions to Congress was successful, namely, an adjustment to Rule 95 whereby a club affiliating to the Association must not only have eleven registered players but also a registered official before it can do so.
