Junior ‘A’ Final    Raheny ‘A’ v St Marks

Raheny have taken this Championship and their league by storm this season and are unbeaten.

St Marks have come out of the same group as Raheny so the rivalry is intense. Supporters line the Ballymun Kickhams’ all-weather pitch and excitement fill the air.

At 4.22 Referee Derek McKittrick [Fingallians] throws in the ball and immediately the pace is furious. The play flows from end to end of the pitch with superb defending on both sides.

The half time score, just 3 scores each has St Marks ahead 2-1 to 3 points. The second half was as exciting with the play flowing first the one way and then the other. St Mark’s made the final push though and pipped the northside girls by 2 points to claim promotion in ‘09 to Intermediate as the game finished 3-5  to 2-6.

But truly, it was a game that could have gone either way. In her speech, capt Lynda O’Donoghue thanked Raheny’s Brian Carthy and his team for a great game and this was echoed by Co Chairman Camillus Kilpatrick who awarded St Mark’s No 15 Selina Conlon with the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy
