Dublin U16 team v Meath

Leinster U16 Championship
Saturday February 27th, Dunganny 2pm
Meath v Dublin
Dublin U16âs begin the defence of their provincial title this Saturday with a tough away tie versus old rivals Meath. Traditionally Dublin and Meath encounters have always been tough, tight and tense affairs as there is no love lost on the field of play with these two great Leinster rivals clash.
The two Countyâs meet twice in last yearâs championship with Dublin coming out in top in both encounters only to lose out to eventual All Ireland champions Kerry in the All Ireland semi-final.
Saturdayâs encounter will have an extra edge with Meath confident of causing an upset as the Royal County will be buoyed on by their U14 championship victory over the Dubs in 2015. Members of this victorious Meath team will have moved up into their current U16 squad and will have no fear of Dublin.
Dublin fans heading to the game which incidentally is being played in the Meath GAA centre of excellence in Dunganny will no doubt be treated to an interesting game of football.
Dublin management will be aware that there is a lot of championship football still to be played between now and the Leinster final on June 26th.
Rachel Brennan from St Peregrines has been announced as the team Captain for 2016. Everyone involved in Dublin LGFA would like to wish Rachel and all the Dublin girls the very best of luck for the season ahead, may it be a long successful one!
