*** Dublin Team Named for LIDL NFL game v Cork ***

Lidl Ladies NFL Rd 4

Dublin v Cork

Sunday February 28th, Parnell Park 2pm

Dublin have named the same starting 15 that began against Monaghan two weeks ago for this Sunday’s LIDL NFL encounter with Cork.

Dublin racked up their largest winning margin of the league to date in the 5-18 to 0-06 victory over Monaghan with Carla Rowe (2), Amy Ring, Nicole Owens and Niamh McEvoy all on target for the blues as Dublin hit Monaghan with 5 first half goals.

Having lost the week previously by two points to a inform Mayo side Dublin management were especially pleased with Dublin’s turnaround performance in Emyvale.

One concern for Dublin ahead of this Sundays encounter with Cork is the fact that a number of Dublin players where in O’Connor cup action this week. Dublin colleges, UCD and DCU both qualified for the O’Connor Cup semi –finals having registered victories over Trinity College and Queens University respectively.

Dublin manager Gregory McGonigle will be hoping that physical and mental fatigue doesn’t play a part in Sunday’s clash with Cork. New Cork manager Ephie Fitzgerald who took over from Eamonn Ryan just ahead of the NFL has named a strong team with 12 Cork players who began last September’s All Ireland final listed to start for the rebels on Sunday.

Another concern for Dublin is the fact that Muireann Ni Scanaill remains on the bench as the St Margaret’s player continues to recover from the arm injury she picked up in the early stages of the Mayo game in Swinford.  Ni Scanaill was a revelation for Dublin last year at full back earning an All Star nomination in what was her first season playing at senior level.

Ephie Fitzgerald in an interview with a Cork Red FM appeared to indicate that there may be a couple of changes to his named Cork line out.  Twelve of his panel also featured in the O’connor cup during the week lining out for UCC who incidentally are managed by former Cork coach, Shane Ronayne.

Veteran defender Deirdre O’Reilly who incidentally is listed to play at number 6 on Sunday is also due to line out for her club camogie side Milford in next weeks All Ireland final. If one is to believe the rumour mill O’Reilly is not likely to feature in Sunday’s encounter with Dublin unless required with many predicting Brid Stack to make a return to the Cork defence.

All will be revealed at 2pm on Sunday afternoon with a big crowd anticipated to make the journey to Parnell Park for what is a repeat of the last two Senior All Ireland finals. A kick of a ball was all that separated the two sides on both of those occasions. This Sunday’s clash again has all the makings of another Dublin / Cork classic and a contest not to be missed.

Niall McCormack from Laois is the man in charge of this much anticipated NFL encounter.
