Dublin and Meath fixtures are always close, hard fought encounters so it was no surprise that the latest contest between these two great Leinster rivals would prove to be another enthralling close contest.
Despite the testing weather conditions both teams gave it their all serving up an exciting game of football which was thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd of spectators in attendance.
Dublin assisted by a strong wind controlled the majority of the possession in the opening half. Their dominance was reflected on the scoreboard as the visitors took at 8 point lead into the half time dressing room. HT score Dublin 2-05 Meath 1-00, Dublinâs first half goals were scored by Amy OâBrien and Rachel Fagan while Rebecca King had been on target for Meath.
Meath began to come into the game more in the second half putting the Dublin back line under fierce pressure, firing high ball in on top of the Dubâs full back line.
Meathâs persistence and high ball tactics eventually paid off as Olivia Gore and Emma Duggan both found the back of the Dublin net.

As time ticked on Meath were awarded a penalty which Rebecca King duly despatched leaving just two points between the sides. Late in injury time Dublin were denied a fourth goal when Niamh Cummins had her score disallowed by match official Ciaran Groome. The Offaly native dismissing the score due to a small square infringement much to the disapproval of the Dublin contingent.
As the game drew to its conclusion Dublin manager Steve Davis will be pleased with how his chargers worked hard for each other, defending well in the closing stages of the game to hold out for a well-earned victory.
