Leinster U14 Championship

Saturday 20th February, 1.30pm (new time)

Dublin v Meath

Navan O’Mahony’s GAA Club

February 20th will be a significant date for the 30 young members of Dublin U14 squad as they open their 2016 Leinster campaign against old foes and near neighbours Meath.

Saturday will also be a special occasion for Dublin manager Steve Davis as the Stars of Erin man gets his Inter County managerial career underway. Davis had a hugely successful club season in 2015 with his beloved Stars of Erin guiding the Glencullen ladies to championship, league and cup success.

Over 180+ players were nominated for Dublin trials with the Dublin management team assigned the mammoth task of finding 30 players to represent the County at this level.  Following nearly two months of trial sessions and challenge matches the ultimate group of 30 was finally assembled together.

Everyone involved in Dublin LGFA is fully appreciative of the tremendous work being carried out across the County by numerous club coaches and volunteers. Testimony of the high level of coaching going on throughout Dublin at grass levels is the fact that twenty clubs are presented on the Dublin panel.

Dublin will be captained by centre forward Aoife Coffey (Lucan Sarsfields) while full back Tammy Quinn Corbally (Thomas Davis) will take on the role of vice-captain.

There is no question that Meath as reigning Leinster champions will be intent on giving Dublin a baptism of fire in Navan on Saturday. However Dublin has been diligently preparing for this game and will look forward to the challenge posed by their Leinster rivals.

Dublin fixtures this season see them away to Meath on Saturday followed by another away trip to Wexford on the 12th of March before having three home games in a row. On the 19th of March versus Kildare, 27th of March versus Laois and on the 10th of April versus Westmeath.

Everyone in Dublin LGFA would like to wish Steve, his management team and all the girls the very best of luck not only on Saturday but for the season ahead.
