Dublin name team for NFL clash with Kerry
- Jan 30,2016
Lidl Ladies NFL Rd 1
Dublin v Kerry
Sunday Jan 31st Parnell Park, 2pm
Dublin began their 2016 NFL campaign with a tough home fixture versus reigning Munster champions Kerry who similar to Dublin will have high aspirations for the LIDL Ladies NFL.
Dubs boss Gregory McGonigle has named a strong starting 15 for this opening round fixture which includes 9 players who started the All Ireland final versus Cork last September. Remarkably Dublin have never won the division 1 NFL title with McGonigle stating that winning the 2016 league is one of Dublinâs goals for this year.
The starting 15 features 7 U21 All Ireland winners and 5 All Stars.
Lauren Magee Daughter of former Dublin GAA star Johnny Magee makes her senior debut at midfield alongside Noelle Healy with U21 All Ireland winners Leah Caffrey and Siobhan Woods also named in the starting 15.
Sinead Aherne returns to bolster the Dublin forward line following her time away overseas while Foxrock Cabinteelyâs Amy Ring also makes a welcome return to the Dublin set up following a superb season for her club in 2015.
Home side Dublin will be looking to overturn last seasonâs 3-11 to 2-08 defeat to Kerry when Sarah Houilhan, Patrice Dennehy and Louise Galvin were all on target for the Kingdom.
Similar to their male counterparts Dublin versus Kerry encounters always have an added spice and Sundayâs clash will be no different.
Colm McManus from Meath will get proceedings underway in Parnell Park at 2pm.
