2016 Dublin Minor Panel is announced:
Dublin minor manager Martin McDonnell this morning revealed his squad of 2016. In total seventeen clubs are represented on the panel which comprises of 32 players.
Minor champions Kilmacud Crokes have the highest contingent of representatives with five followed by division 2 minor champions Parnells with four, Cuala are next with 3.
Ballyboden St Endas, Foxrock Cabinteely, Clontarf, Fingallians, OâTooles and St Maurs all provide two players a piece. While Ballinteer St Johns, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Naomh Barrog, Naomh Olaf, OâDwyers, Raheny, St Sylvesterâs and Thomas Davis each have a representative.
McDonnell and his management team began the search for players back on October 24thlast and has chosen a very experienced group of players to represent the County at minor level this season. Out of the 32 girls named only 2 have not previously played County football for Dublin.
Both Ella Thiroueiz and Aoife McGrath will make their debuts in the sky blue jersey this season.
Twelve of the newly named minor panel were members of the 2015 squad that captured the Leinster title last season under McDonnell only to lose out to eventual winners Cork in the All Ireland semi- final. Ten of this yearâs panellists were members of the Dublin U16 squad that succumbed to a strong Kerry side in the 2015 All Ireland semi-final. While another seven featured on the U16 Dublin team of 2014 that reached the All Ireland final the same season. Ciara Ann Carroll was a member of the 2013 U16 team.
Tarah OâSullivan from Foxrock Cabinteely has been named as minor captain for 2016 with Sinead Moran of St Maurs acting as vice- captain.
Dublin will get the defence of the Leinster crown underway on the 6th of February with a home tie versus Laois. Wexford will travel to Dublin on February 20th with Offaly making the trip to the capital a month later on March 20th. The provincial semi-final is down for March 26th while the final is pencilled in for the 16th of July.
