Climb4Clare Report

July 2015

Please see below a brief report on the ‘CLIMB4CLARE’ Fundraising Campaign to date and we appreciate all the support we have been given over the past year and look forward to the coming months continuing to fundraise and spread the programme to further centres around Ireland.

1.      Training

·         Facilitators were qualified to run CLIMB from nine centres including one in Northern Ireland in January

·         These are as below:

o   Cork Arc Cancer Support

o   Cuan Cootehill & Cavan Centre Social Support Group

o   Cancer Focus Northern Ireland (Cookstown)

o   Arc Dublin South

o   Arc Dublin North

o   Tuam Cancer Care

o   Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity Galway

o   Éist Carlow Cancer Support Centre

o   Portlaoise Cuisle Cancer Care

·         There will be a review of the 2015 programmes in Autumn

·         The next set of training will take place in January 2016 and further centres will apply to be part of this

2.      Programmes

·         So far programmes have completed in ARC Eccles Street, ARC South Circular and Éist in Carlow

·         There will be another programme in ARC in July such is the demand

·         The other centres who took part in the training are currently putting the steps in place to run their first programmes in September

·         On graduation day the parents could not thank Clare enough for making this available and their kids loved being involved and have a teddy with her name to make sure they know where it came from

3.      Funding

·         So far we have raised around €55,000 and all the funding is specifically for the CLIMB Programme and the costs associated

·         We have agreed to continue to raise funds for three years and will then review

4.      Promotion

·         As you will see on our website, face book and twitter there are events taking place constantly through clubs, counties and provinces so brilliant to see all still going

·         Events have included family walks, fun days, cycles, shaving hair and many more

·         A number of companies have also agreed to have Climb4Clare as their chosen charity this year so we are looking forward to working with these in coming months

·         We still send out releases on a regular basis to try and keep in the news

·         June was the month for signing up to our next big event which is Hell & Back on 12th September and we have over 300 people registered

5.      Next Steps

·         Continue to coordinate the Fundraising events and in particular Hell & Back in September

·         Liaise with Irish Cancer Society for the continued roll out of programmes in the current year and the review of programmes which have already taken place

·         Promote the CLIMB Programme to create awareness for any families needing to avail of the service

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support for CLIMB4CLARE and the programme is assisting families throughout the country. We appreciate all the fundraising efforts and we will work to ensure the programme continues to spread to all cancer care centres.

We especially want to thank all our clubs, county boards and provincial councils for their continued support and it is because of this support that CLIMB4CLARE is having a huge impact around the country.
