Leinster U16 Final 2015
Sunday May 17th, 3.15pm
Dublin v Meath
Clane GAA Club, Co Kildare
The great GAA sporting rivalry between Dublin and Meath has long been written into sporting folklore with many a fine battle being played out between these two great neighbours.
Last season Dublin piped Meath in an electric closely fought U14 Leinster final at the same venue.
A number of players from both teams who played in that provincial decider will also be involved in Sundayâs encounter making this clash one that you will not want to miss.
Dublin come into the provincial final with a 100% record following victories over Westmeath, Offaly, Wexford, Laois, Kildare and including Sundayâs opposition Meath.
Likewise Meath have enjoyed a terrific run of results on route to the final with the only blip on their record being their opening round loss to Dublin. That game which was played before a huge crowd in Ballyboden St Endas saw Dublin edge out Meath on a score line of 7-12 to 2-08 however one can expect the game in Clane to be a much tighter affair.
Dublinâs starting line out has representatives from twelve clubs named which is an indication of the strength and depth of club football in the capital. Excellent coaching and development work is being carried out across the County at grass roots level with the fruits of that labour transferring on into the County scene.
Clara OâSullivan from Naomh Olaf is the captain of the Dubâs the Sandyford native was the hero of the day last year in the All Ireland U16 semi-final versus Galway. Dublin will look to their captain for inspiration up front while other players who have shown great form this Sunday are defenders Eve Reidy, Siabh Hannigan and Sarah Fagan along with forward Caoimhe OâConnor and Danielle Lawless.
While the Carey twins from Ballinteer St Johns Michelle and Niamh are looking to make a little bit of history as they strive to become their first set of twins to win a Leinster title with Dublin.
The action gets underway at 3.15pm in Clane with offaly official Ciaran Groome the man in charge of proceedings.
Dublin LGFA will have LIVE score updates from the final available via Twitter @dublinladiesg
