AIG Feile Division 2 Final

Castleknock 1-03 Fingallians 1-01

Castleknock lead from the start to win the division two title over Fingallians on Sunday at St Peregrines.

Castleknock got the first score of the game just moments in when Eimear Griffin put the ball over the bar.

Fingallians also started the game strongly with some good play from Hannah Howard, who brought the ball to Emma McCormack who defeated the Castleknock backs to score a goal within the first three minutes of the match.

The Castleknock backs were being forced to work hard by Fingallians who had a very strong work ethic and kept moving forward with Sinéad NicSeoin in particular stopping two likely looking attacks.

Castleknock’s major breakthrough came when Sophia Ostapiv scored a goal off the back of some great play from Aisling Kenny and Castleknock went further into the lead with a point from Siobhán Roche just before the break.

In a much lower scoring second half, with the first of two scores came in the first few minutes after the restart when Castleknock placed the ball over the bar to set bring them three points into the lead.

Fingallians put up a good fight to try and regain some footing in the match with Hannah Howard and Emma McCormack in particular each putting in strong performances for the side.

Fingallians did add another score to the scoreboard with a pointed free, however, they were unable to regain the lead before the final whistle and Castleknock won the division title by two points.
