Laois v Dublin

Venue: Crettyard Co Laois

Dublin management has made three changes to their starting line- up for this Sundays 5th round NFL tie versus Laois.

Fiona Hudson is named at corner back in place of Muireann Ní Scanaill while Katie Murray replaces Lucy Collins at the heart of the Dublin defence. Nicole Owens returns to the Dubs forward line after her recent bout of concussion that she picked up in the Mayo game with Hannah Noonan moving down to the subs bench.

While up front Dublin have made a number of positional switches  the most noticeable of which is Niamh McEvoy moving from full forward to midfield to partner Sarah McCaffrey with Amy Connolly switching from the centre to half forward.

The O ’Moore County have endured a poor league run to date and are currently propping up the division one league table. Laois are entering a period of transition having lost the services of a number of players including that of their “talisman” Tracy Lawlor who following a glowing career took retirement at the end of last season.

However Laois still possess an abundance of talented footballers amongst their including current All Star goal keeper Ciamh Dollard along with Martina Dunne and Maggie Murphy all three have the potential and talent to cause Dublin huge concern on Sunday especially on home turf.

Dublin have experienced mixed results in the league to date enjoying a fine win over table toppers Monaghan followed by a well -earned draw against Galway.  But last seasons league runners up have since come unstuck in their last two outings dropping points to both Mayo and Kerry.

Gregory Mc Gonigle will be seeking an improved performance from his chargers as they go in search of a place in the knockout stages a feat that is still very much alive for the Dubs with 3 rounds remaining in the competition.

With a lot at stake for both sides Sunday’s game is sure to be an interesting encounter, throw in- time in Crettyard is 2pm.
