The opening round of the Ladies Gaelic National Football League gets underway this coming Sunday, Feb 1st with the introductory round throwing up some interesting clashes.

Last season runners up Dublin welcome Monaghan to DCU for what should be a mouth -watering encounter. Colm McManus will get proceedings underway in the Glasnevin venue at 2pm.

Dublin and Monaghan meet on two occasions last season in February both teams played out an entertaining 1-13 a piece draw in the group stage of the competition.

When they met for a second time it was Dublin who enjoyed a 4-15 to 1-20 semi-final victory over Monaghan who were then managed by well- known GAA coaching author John Morrison.

This season Dublin native Peter Clarke has taken over the reign in Monaghan the former Dublin boss having previously managed Mayo in 2014. Clarke will be familiar with the setting on Sunday having previously managed DCU to a number of O'Connor Cup triumphs.

Elsewhere on Sunday Tyrone welcome Kerry to Gardrum Park, Mayo will play host to reigning champs Cork, while last year’s Div 2 champions Galway host Laois in Tuam Stadium.
