Brogan and O'Connor Getting Ready for Final Week of Lenovo Skills Hub

The second and final week of the Dublin Lenovo Skills Hubs will take place from August 5th -8th in Blanchardstown IT. The Hub leaders will be Bernard Brogan and Cliodhna O’Connor. Both recently crowned Leinster champions are really looking forward to the week.

'The Skills Hub that was held in Dublin earlier in the summer went really really well. All the young players got a huge amount of from spending the week with Senior County Players so our aim is to make this one even better!' said Bernard Brogan

The Lenovo Skills Hub is a nationally co-ordinated Gaelic Games programme of skill development activities taking place in a positive playing environment, providing boys and girls aged 13 -15 with the opportunity to derive maximum enjoyment from their involvement in Gaelic Games with a view to

·         maximising participation

·         optimising playing standards

·         ensuring that players’ needs are catered for in a balanced and holistic way.

The staff working on the programme are experienced qualified coaches. Along with playing Football and receiving expert coaching, a section of each day will be used to show best practice in Lifestyle choices such as Nutrition, Fitness levels, Preparation for Games, Sun Smart, and general advice from the inter county players present.

Clíodhna O'Connor said that:

' I hope to see a lot of young female footballers at the week of the skills hub. There are numerous members of the Dublin Senior Ladies Team going to be present throughout the week so it is a perfect opportunity for Dublin's aspiring young players to learn from the best players in the County.'

The other really important aspect to the skills hub is that it is not just about the skills of the game. It is also about all the other 'off pitch' skills you need to reach your potential as an athlete. One of our big aims is to help these young players find the balance between being a teenager and enjoying themselves while also getting the most out of their time on the GAA Pitch. Finding this balance is the key to keeping young females involved in sport.'
