TESCO Homegrown National Football League Finals

The TESCO Homegrown National Football League Finals were launched today at Parnell Park which will act as the host to the 3 finals on Saturday and will be broadcast live on TG4.

The Division 1 Final will see Cork defend their TESCO Homegrown Division 1 title when they face a Dublin team that have reached the final with an undefeated record in their 8 matches to date including a victory over their opposition in the finals. Eamonn Ryan is hoping to steer his charges to an 8th League title since 2005. Dublin have never reached the Division 1 decider before and will hope to make history in Parnell Park at 3:45pm.

Galway have been the pace setters in Division 2 as they have an unblemished 100% record as they have easily navigated their way to the Division 2 final. Barry Downey and his Tribeswomen will be hoping to make it third time lucky this weekend as they take part in their third final in three years. Westmeath have had an up and down campaign to date but at their best they have been in devastating form. Former Senior Intercounty player, Martin Flanagan, will know that his charges will enter the decider at underdogs but this is a situation that they will relish.

Armagh have been devastating in their Division 3 campaign as they have swept aside all comers on their way to the final with an unbeaten record. However, they will know that this means nothing if they don’t perform on the day having lost last year’s decider to Down despite being in similar form. Waterford will want to gain a measure of revenge for their TG4 All Ireland Intermediate final defeat to the same opposition just 2 years ago and there is no doubt that they will have the talent available to do so.

Speaking at the launch of the TESCO Homegrown National Football League Finals LGFA president Pat Quill said ‘I am really looking forward to 3 great games at Parnell Park on Sunday. These 6 teams have put in all the hard work over the past few months and are fully deserving of their places in the finals. They have arrived at this stage with differing records but as we have found out in previous years form goes out the window when they walk out onto Parnell Park.’

Tickets for the finals will be available at the gate on Saturday at €15 for adults and €5 for student and OAP’s with Under 16’s free of charge.
