Dublin Club Championship Draw 2014
The draw for the Dublin LGFA Club Championship of 2014 will take place on Tuesday the 15th of April next at the Dublin Ladies County Board meeting in Parnell Park. (Throw in 7:30pm).
The draw will be conducted for the Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Junior B championships only with the draw for the remainder of the lower Junior championship competitions taking place later in the season.
Eight teams will contest the 2014 senior championship, Fingallians, Foxrock Cabinteely, Ballyboden St Endas, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Na Fianna, St Brigids, St Sylvesterâs and new senior club, Thomas Davis.
Fingallians will be eager to retain the title that they won following a dramatic victory over Na Fianna in last yearâs senior final replay.
However a resurgent Foxrock Cabinteely, champions of 2012 and 2013 Intermediate champions Thomas Davis have the capacity to provide severe competition for the reigning Fingallians side.
Na Fianna, champions of 2011 will also be intent on avenging their replay loss of last year and will be fully focused on going one step further this season.
Nine clubs will go into the hat for the Intermediate championship draw with last yearâs beaten finalists Kilmacud Crokes one of the favourites to contest the final again in 2014. Also in the draw will be Ballinteer St Johns, Clontarf, Croi Ro Noafa, Garda, Naomh Mearnog, Parnells, Round Towers, Clondalkin and St Margarets.
The Junior championship will have an even dozen clubs battling it out for the right to be called Dublin champions, Ballyboden St Endas B, Castleknock, Clann Mhuire, Cuala, Lucan Sarsfields, Man O War, Portobello, Raheny, Skerries Harps, St Judeâs, St Maurs and St Peregrines will all go into the junior draw on Tuesday night.
The north County has a strong representation in this competition, with Man O War, Clann Mhuire, St Maurs and indeed Skerries Harps amongst the favourites to succeed Croi Ro Naofa as Junior Champions in 2014
Six clubs will go to battle to bring home the Junior B cup, Kilmacud Crokes B, Naomh Barrog, O'Tooles, Scoil Ui Chonaill, St Brigids B and newly amalgamated St Finians / Ballyboughal.
Last yearâs beaten finalists OâTooles will once again be up there as contenders for this title but donât rule out a good run in this competition by either Kilmacud Crokes B and or the newly structured Scoil Ui Chonaill.
Our club championship is one of most exciting, dramatic and enthralling competitions ran by our association and one that everyone involved in Dublin LGFA is eagerly looking forward too!
Dates, times and venues to be confirmed following draw, best of luck everybody.
