EVERbuild Féile Átha Cliath 2014

One of the biggest events in the Dublin LGFA calendar takes place this coming weekend Everbuild Feile Atha Cliath- with Feile 2014 set to be the largest to be organised to date by the Dublin association.

This year 51 teams from 44 clubs are taking part in Féile, which represents nearly 1105 players from clubs all across the County. This is a wonderful achievement for Dublin LGFA and is an indication of the growth and strength of Ladies Gaelic Football in the Capital.

Like any event of this size a huge thank you has to go to the many volunteers who help make this a great weekend for Ladies football in the capital.

Dublin LGFA would like to acknowledge our host clubs, Ballyboden St Endas, St Maurs, St Anne’s, Naomh Mearnog, Clontarf, Trinity Gaels, Dublin Camogie and Thomas Davis for the use of their facilities on Féile Saturday and to St Peregrines GAA club who are hosting all seven Feile finals on Sunday.

We are truly grateful to all the club members, match officials and event coordinators who are offering their valuable time and service this weekend to ensure the smooth running of Féile 2014.

Special mention to our event sponsor, Matt O’Dell of EVERbuild who has been associated with Féile Átha Cliath since 2008, we are extremely thankful for his continued support and generous sponsorship of Féile Átha Cliath.

At this time of year our thoughts are also with the family and friends of Emma Jones, a young girl who loved the game of Gaelic football, who was taken from us too soon. Our division one trophy is named in tribute to Emma ensuring her memory lives on forever in the spirit of Féile.

Can we remind coaches, mentors and parents while Feile is a fantastic sporting competition we must be mindful that all those playing in Feile are young vibrant enthusiastic footballers so please ensure that their experience and memory of Feile 2014 is a special one where sportsmanship, respect and fair play is the ultimate winner.

Young Players' Charter:

We are playing for enjoyment, to be with our friends, and to make new friends.

We promise to try our best to improve our skill, to help our team mates, and to obey the rules of the game.

We enjoy having older people watch us play. We ask that they applaud rather than criticise our efforts and the efforts of our opponents. Remember that we are learning to play a game that should give us a lifetime of enjoyment. We may have to risk making errors in order to learn. Please give us a chance.

We thank the referees for giving time to take charge of our games. We promise to respect the referees’ decisions. We ask the older people to do the same.

We promise to respect our opponents.

We will shake hands before and after each game.
