TESCO Homegrown NFL Division 1 Round 3:

February 16th 2014

Dublin v Mayo – venue confirmed

The venue for Sunday’s NFL clash of Dublin and Mayo has been confirmed as Fr Gibbons Park Claremorris, with the throw in time down for 1:30pm.

The All-weather 3G pitch located in the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan is on stand- by should the ongoing inclement weather conditions effect the availability of the Claremorris pitch.

Mayo have played two games to date in the NFL their opening fixture against Cork was as anticipated a close encounter with the Rebels just holding on to claim a two point win with Cork’s, Valerie Mulcahy on form up front for the reigning league champions.

Mayo however quickly bounded back from their disappointing defeat to Cork with an impressive 5-17 0-04 victory over Tyrone last weekend.

Gregory McGonigle’s new look Dublin side had a notable eleven point win over Kerry last Sunday. While Dublin’s performance against the Kingdom was impressive the sky blues are fully aware that they will have to raise their game another notch or two versus Mayo as the Connacht side are a formidable outfit especially on home ground.

Looking back on results involving both Counties Mayo have a clear lead over Dublin having won the last three league encounters between the sides however this weekend’s clash could provide the new look Dubs with the incentive to go and rewrite the record books.
