TESCO Homegrown National Football League Round 1 Fixtures

The TESCO Homegrown National Football League gets underway this weekend with action taking place in all 4 Divisions.

Division 1 gets underway with some mouth watering clashes taking place. Defending champions, Cork get their campaign underway as they host Mayo in what is a replay of last year’s Division 1 final. Gregory McGonigle takes charge of Dublin for the first time as he travels to Aughnamullen to take on a Monaghan side that he lead to Division 1 glory in 2012 and to last September’s TG4 All Ireland Final. Donegal make the trip to Laois for their first round clash whilst last year’s Division 2 champions, Kerry, will host their first Division 1 match in 4 years at Fitzgerald Stadium with Tyrone providing the opposition.

Down begin their Division 2 campaign at home against Meath as both teams adjust to life in Division 2. Kildare and Galway will be two of the favourites for the Division 2 title and they will meet in round 1 at Carbury. Cavan are sure to be full of confidence following their TG4 Intermediate All Ireland victory last September, they will welcome Westmeath to Kingspan Breffni Park for their League opener. Fermanagh host Clare in the final game of the round as both counties look to put down a marker for 2014.

Armagh will hope to put the disappointment of losing last year’s Division 3 final firmly behind them when they host Longford in Killeavy on Sunday at 2pm. John Leahy begins his tenure as manager of the Tipperary Ladies Football team when the Tipp hurling legend brings his team to Wexford. Newly promoted Offaly will travel to Waterford to for their opening fixture while Sligo will host their Connacht neighbours, Leitrim at IT Sligo in their Division 3 opener.

Limerick and Louth meet in Round 1 of the TESCO Homegrown Division 4 at St. Patrick’s, whilst Antrim host Derry in the All Ulster opener at Queen’s University. Roscommon will host Wicklow in the final game of the Round.
