- Nov 12,2013
Dublin GAA and AIG Ireland, today officially launched their new five-year partnership, which sees AIG exclusively sponsoring the countyâs hurling, football, ladies football and camogie teams at all levels.
This is the first time in Dublin GAA history that all codes have been united under one sponsor.
The sponsorship agreement will result in a new name on the Dublin jersey. The new strip was officially unveiled today by Dublin GAA stars Bernard Brogan, Danny Sutcliffe, Sinéad Goldrick and Louise OâHara (pictured modelling the jersey are Sinead, Liam Rushe, Bernard and Louise).
The full kit is now in production and will be available for purchase in retail outlets nationwide from this Friday.
Welcoming the deal and the new jersey, Dublin GAA County Board Chairman Andy Kettle said: âThis sponsorship deal is a massive boost to Dublin GAA and all its clubs and members. The last few years have been very positive for Dublin GAA on and off the field but success cannot be achieved without the support of key partners and we are delighted to have AIG on board as we look to promote Gaelic Games.
âAt a time when the business environment is challenging, sponsorship revenue is essential in helping with the development of the GAA in Dublin and increasing participation.
âAIG is a blue chip organisation with a proven track record in sponsorship and they are going to be an exceptional partner. We are confident that Dublin fans will be proud to wear our latest jersey and great credit must go to the team in OâNeills who have worked hard over the last few weeks, in consultation with the players and managers, to deliver this jersey here today.â
Commenting on the sponsorship, AIG Ireland General Manager Declan OâRourke said: âAIG is thrilled to be partnering with Dublin GAA, one of the countryâs most successful GAA counties. Both the Dubs and AIG share core values of teamwork, tenacity and performance.
âAs sponsors of golf, tennis and now Dublin GAA, AIG in Ireland has a proud history of supporting grassroots, participation sport, with all the social, personal and health benefits that sport brings to communities around the country.
âAs a sponsor, we are committed to assisting Dublin GAA to promote these fantastic games and help support games development and future success in the county.
âThis sponsorship is a clear statement of AIGâs commitment to the Irish market and our intent to raise our profile and awareness of our products. It is with great pride that we unveil the new Dublin jersey with the AIG logo which will be worn by the entire Dublin GAA family.â
