NADA - Athlete Development not Strength and conditioning

Athlete Development not Strength and Conditioning.

Over the last number of years the National Athlete Development Academy (NADA) have been involved with a number of success stories within the GAA, most recently the Dublin Senior Football Team's recapturing of Sam Maguire in Croke Park.

Recently there has been much talk of the GAA becoming very professional and massive demands being put on the players to prioritise their training over everything else even though they are still amateur players. CEO and Head Coach in NADA, Martin Kennedy believes that providing the right support for elite level GAA Players in vital for the development of Gaelic Games but that there is a lot more to that than simply spending hours in the gym on top of their regular team sessions on the pitch.

‘Strength and Conditioning has become a buzz word in the GAA in the last few years, many people believe that it is as important as practicing the skills of the game. While I believe it has it's place I think there is a lot more to getting a GAA player ready to perform at the highest level than just Strength and Conditioning and that's why NADA is about ‘Athlete Development' rather then Strength and Conditioning, we believe that there is a big difference'

Kennedy and his team of coaches have provided hands on coaching support for multiple teams around the Country but that is not all that NADA provide.

We understand that sports clubs in Ireland can't afford professional coaches year after year which is why we developed our Coach Mentorship Courses.  Along with the hands on experience of our coaches we develop our NADA systems in line with International leaders such as ‘Athletes Performance' and ‘Create Development'. Our primary aim with the Coach Mentorships is to give coaches and mentors around the Country the opportunity to develop their own coaching skills through engaging and extremely practical courses.'
