St Judes pip O'Tooles to take Championship title

The first of the two finals was the Junior B between St. Jude's and O'Tooles with St. Jude's facing their third final in a row.
A tight opening minute led to St. Jude's getting the opening free which was taken by Niamh O'Connell but went wide.
A great block from St. Jude's Cliodhna Carmody
kept O'Tooles from scoring and Sarah Curran had another great block to keep the ball away.
Aisling Egan finally made the breakthrough for
St. Jude's by scoring the opening point of the game after nine minutes of play.
St. Jude's Laura Gibney and Leah Barry had two
shots but both went wide as they tried to keep the pressure on.
O'Tooles Diana Farrell had a great shot with a
free but it was saved by the St. Jude's goalkeeper Carmel Kearney. Shortly
after, she was given another free and this time she capitalised and scored the
opening point for her side 16 minutes in.
O'Tooles got their second point when a ball went
in toward the goal and looked it to dip and drop short but Ericka Behan pushed it over the bar.
St. Jude's were given another free and after a
scramble in front of the goal, Katie Mahon took a shot but went wide.
Fiona Dwyer from O'Tooles soon after took her
first point for her side as they started to build
some momentum as just moments later they were
back in front of the goal and had a shot
but it was saved.
O'Tooles were awarded a 45 which made its way to
Katie Fitzgibbon and she converted it into the
opening goal of the game five minutes before half time.
With the clock ticking don St. Jude's had three
near scores which all went wide taken by Curran, Mahon and Niamh O'Connell.
At half time the score stood at 1-03 to 0-01 in
favour of O'Tooles.
A quick start to the second half led to St.
Jude's taking possession and Leah Barry took the first shot but it went wide.
Just a few minutes in Tooles scored the opening
point of the second half when Aoife Kelly
scored for her side; this was very quickly followed up by Ash Kane scoring
another.
St. Jude's were given a free taken by
Niamh O'Connell but it went wide, Curran soon after
had a great run towards the goal but her shot
also went wide. However minutes later she
took another shot and this time it worked out when she scored a point.
St. Jude's Curran tried for another score but a
great block from O'Tooles Ciara Maloney kept it out.
St. Jude's were awarded a free and Niamh O'Connell scored her
first point.
Straight after this, O'Tooles had another point
scored for them by substitute Emma Maloney.
St. Jude's were given a free taken by O'Connell
and a slight fumble in front of the goal
led to a goal being scored by O'Connell bringing the gap in scores to just
three points.
St. Jude's took hold of possession once more and
O'Connell brought the ball to Pamela Kavanagh and she capitalised and scored St. Jude's second goal bringing
the teams level.
Straight after they took the ball again and
Laura Gibney scored a point to bring her side
ahead.
With just a few minutes left before the final
whistle St. Jude's Curran scored her 3rd
point of the game. This was closely followed by O'Tooles' Diana Farrell
scoring a point for them.
At full time the score was 2-05 to 1-07 with St
Judes the victors. Player of the match went to a very deserving Pamela Kavanagh
from St. Jude's.
