Peat on target for Dublin

Peat 2 goal heroine for the Sky Blues ..

Dublin secured their 9th provincial title win last Saturday with a notable 14 point victory over great rivals Meath. Powerful Parnell's forward, Lindsay Peat got the Dubs off to a dream start with she rattled the back of the Meath net within a minute of the throw in  -  scoring possibly the quickest goal in Leinster final history.

Peat was on target again scoring her second goal in the 6th minute while fellow Dublin forwards Lyndsay Davey and Noelle Healy were also causing the Meath defence untold problems.

The last ten minutes of the first half saw Meath recapture their composure notching up three unanswered points two from corner forward Geraldine Doherty and a Katie O'Brien free. Dublin took a two goal lead into the dressing room at half time, Dublin 2-6 Meath 0-06.

Three times All Star Sinead Aherne gave Dublin the perfect second half tonic when she kicked over Dublin's  7th point then added her sides third goal all within two minutes of the restart.

With Meath's confidence ebbing away, Dublin never looked back with McGuinness, Healy, Davey and substitute Woods all pointing for the metropolitans.  Remarkably Dublin's tally of 3-14 all came from play while four of Meath's nine points came from placed balls.

Dublin boss, Paul Gilheaney while content with his sides overall performance still acknowledged that there is still a lot of work to be done if Dublin are to be considered as serious challengers for the Brendan Martin cup.

The TG4 senior championship was blown wide open when defending All Ireland and Munster champions Cork where sensationally defeated by Kerry in Saturdays Munster final, Kerry denying the Rebels a 10th successive Munster crown.  Meanwhile Monaghan picked up their fourth Ulster title in four years following a comprehensive defeat of Tyrone while over in the West, Galway retained their Connacht title with a 0-16 to 1-09 win over Mayo.
