Mixed results for Dubs in Kilcullen

Dublin experienced mixed results in the Leinster championship on Saturday last in Kilcullen. Dublin U16's chalked up their second consecutive championship win while the U14's endured their second loss of the season.

In the opening U16 fixture, Kildare had stayed tight to Dublin for much of the opening half of this highly paced encounter with the Dubs taking a six point lead into the dressing room at half time, the score board reading Dublin 1-09 to Kildare's 0-6.

Pat Kane's chargers eventually pulled away from this well drilled, Kildare side in the second half with the Dubs clocking up a 4-11 to 1-12 victory.

Second half goals from Holly Greer, Erica Byrne (penalty) and Emma Colgan swinging the score board to the blues advantage, Ellen Curran had raised the green flag for Dublin in the first half.

In the second game of this Leinster double bill, Amy Branigans U14 side suffered their second loss in the championship but things could have been oh so different as the young Dubs cubs had fought back to lead Kildare by a solidary point but as the clocked ticked closer to full time heart break came when Kildare struck for a late injury time goal!

Despite their loss Dublin can be comforted by their performance and the fighting spirit they showed versus Kildare, if Dublin bring these traits with them into their next match versus Wicklow they should bag a much coveted championship win over the Garden County.

Final scores from Kilcullen, U16s Kildare 1.12 Dublin 4.11, U14s Kildare 3.12 Dublin 3.10

Next up for Dublin U16's is a home game on Easter Sunday versus Wexford with the U14's in championship action against Wicklow on March 29th, venues and times for both games to be confirmed soon.
