Division 1

Sunday 18th March

 

Donegal v Tyrone, MacCool Pk, Ballybofey, 2pm (M Henry)

In order to ensure that they avoid relegation both teams will be eager for a win on Sunday. Both teams are on three points, take score difference into consideration and Tyrone are in a much healthier position. A tough encounter no doubt as Ulster Championship won't be too far from their minds.

 

Monaghan v Dublin, Aughnamullen, 2pm (E O'Hare)

This fixture may be more about those on the sideline than those playing. The current Dublin manager Peter Clarke knows the Monaghan players very well as he was a selector under the current manager Gregory McGonigal in 2011 and has been managing the Emyvale Club for the past two years. Peter and Gregory will also be coming up against eachother in the semi final of the colleges O'Connor Cup as Peter manages DCU and Gregory takes charge of University of Ulster Jordanstown.

 

Laois v Meath, Crettyard, 2pm (K Tighe)

If Meath stand any chance of a semi final slot in the league, they must beat Laois this weekend. Laois have been quietly maintaining a steady position mid table. If they maintain 4th place they will be lined up for a semi final against Cork, a repeat of last year's Bord Gáis Energy National League Final.

 

Cork v Kildare, Pairc na Bríde, Rathcormac, 2pm (K Delahunty)

Kildare will need to take plenty of encouragement from their drawn match last weekend if they stand any chance against the mighty Cork. Cork are sitting clear at the top of Division 1 and have already a guaranteed spot in the semi finals.
