Dubs take full points from Tyrone

Tyrone Vs Dublin.

Another solid and workmanlike performance from Dublin in their 3rd away outing out of four starts in 2012 in Killyclogher Tyrone. Tyrone scored the opening point in the 2nd minute but were unable to register another score until the 27th minute when they scored a crucial goal. In between Dublin scored 4 unanswered points from Olivia Leonard, Sinead Goldrick, Amy McGuinness and Colleen Barrett. Tyrone however went into a strong half time lead 1.04 to 0.04 when they struck three points in row  on 28, 30 and 31 minutes.

Dublin were still finding the Tyrone defence hard to break down but two early second half points from Sinead Aherne and Orlaith Egan brought the Dubs to within one point on 38 minutes. Tyrone pulled 2 ahead again on 40 minutes but the early second half changes from the Dubs began to pay dividends. Points from Gemma Fay on 41 mins, Anne Clarke on 43 mins, and Siobhan Woods on 48 out the Dubs ahead by 1 point at a crucial stage. Tyrone levelled again on 52 mins but with a little more space available to Sinead Aherne, she duly delivered with points on 56, 59 and 61 mins.

Dublin will be very pleased with their outstanding defensive display and teamwork. Their superior fitness was also a major factor in their strong finish. It was a thoroughly excellent team performance from the panel as a whole, however Gemma Fay gave an outstanding performance at wing back and is clearly thriving in her new role as team captain. In all 9 different scorers shared the 12 points scored by Dublin. Shannon Quinn was the best player on the Tyrone side.
