Dubs travel North to play Red Hand County
- Mar 02,2012
Dublin travel up north to Killycogher this Sunday to take on Tyrone in the fourth round of the Bord Gáis Energy Ladies NFL. Dubs manager Peter Clarke will be anxious that his chargers get their league campaign back on track following their three point defeat to Cork two weeks ago having secured victories over Kildare and Meath respectively in the leagues earlier rounds.
Dublin and Tyrone's last meeting was in the 2010 All Ireland final when the Dubs accounted for the Red Hand County by 3-16 to 0-9, since that historic clash both Counties have lost several players to retirement or travel, required new management teams while adding some fresh faces to their respective panels.
Indeed Tyrone is working under their third manager in three years with Gerry Moane taking over at the helm from last year's boss, Martina Dillon. In 2010 Colm Donnelly and Niall Colton as joint team managers had brought the County to their first senior All Ireland final.
Currently Tyrone are one win out of three in division one, having secured their first win of the league when they defeated Kildare by 2-15 to 4-06 at home in round three, previously Tyrone had been defeated twice on the road to Laois (3-10 to 1-11) and to Meath (1-12 to 1-07).
Looking back over the record books results show that Dublin can expect a tough battle on Sunday they will need to dig deep and perform well if they are to come away from this fixture with the full three league points in the bag.
Back in 2010, Dublin and Tyrone served up a drawn game, Dublin 0-11 Tyrone 1-09 while their previous league encounter back in 2006 Tyrone gave the metropolitans a lesson in football when they clocked up a 1-11 to Dublin's 0-07, victory.
Throw in time on Sunday is 2pm with Down offical, Gavin Corrigan in charge of this latest instalment between Dublin and Tyrone.
Meanwhile Dublin manager Peter Clarke is expected to name his starting 15 versus Tyrone following County training tonight, details will be on our website, Twitter and FACEBOOK
