Fay to lead Dubs in 2012

Ballyboden St Endas Star, Gemma Fay has been named as the Dublin senior captain for 2012 taking over the role from TG4 goal keeper of the decade and two times All Star Cliodhna O'Connor.

 

Fay is a well-established member of the Dublin senior panel and the vastly experience defender is known for her steely displays in the sky blue jersey. The leadership qualities which she shows on the field of play will assist her greatly in her new role as Dublin Captain.

 

Fay was a vital clog in the All- Ireland winning team of 2010 her performances throughout that championship campaign was recognised and rewarded as she was chosen on the All Star 15 of 2010.

 

Apart from being a two time All Star and All Ireland winner her other achievements at County level include 5 Leinster senior titles, 2 All Ireland runners up (2003-04), 2 NFL league medals (2007/2011) and was named on the Bord Gáis Energy Team of the League 2011.

 

The Dublin senior team management have also named Sinead Goldrick of Foxrock Cabinteely as the Dublin vice- Captain for 2012.

 

The 21 year old student was consistent for Dublin last season picking up player of the match awards in the BGE National League final won over Meath and in the Tg4 championship qualifier versus Galway. Goldrick was also named on Bord Gáis Energy Team of the League 2011 and was nominated for an All Star.

 

Goldrick's additional football achievements include All Ireland and Leinster medals at U14, U16 and minor level, BGE NFL division 2 in 2011 and Aisling McGing All Ireland B medal 2010.

 

Both players are looking forward to getting back in action and Dublin's opening game in the NFL will take place on Sunday February 5th away to Leinster neighbours, Kildare.
