LGFA National Volunteer Awards ceremony.
Congratulations to all the LGFA Volunteer award winners especially to our own Niall Scully who was presented with the 'Local Journalist of the Year award' on Friday evening last for his coverage of ladies football within Dublin.
Niall Scully has been covering and promoting Ladies in Dublin both at club and County level coming up on four decades now. Dublin LGFA was founded in 1985 and Niall was one of the first journalists to give the association much needed media coverage.
Niall has made a huge impact on our sport especially in the early years when many saw ladies football as a novelty act Niall saw the potential of the game. His coverage back then and throughout the subsequent years gave the LGFA a profile in Dublin and played an integral part in the growth of the sport in the capital.
Niall has covered both club and County football in Dublin LGFA for nearly four decades he has done so because he has a passion for our sport. Niall has been on the same journey as Dublin LGFA.
He has been with us as we enjoyed unmeasurable success but most importantly he was there when no one else was during those times when it was neither popular or fashionable to cover ladies Gaelic football.
