Go Ahead Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Finals – confirmed!

The pairings for the Go-Ahead Ireland Dublin Senior Championship semi-finals are now confirmed.

Next Wednesday 18th September, reigning champions Kilmacud Crokes will face Clontarf at Pairc de Burca while St Sylvesters will welcome Thomas Davis to Broomfield for their knockout clash.

Going into the final round of group games, Kilmacud Crokes had qualified for the semi-final with a game in hand. The Stillorgan based club who are chasing three County titles in a row, dished out a heavy defeat to Cuala in Wednesdays final group fixture as Paddy O’Donoghue’s crew continue to gather momentum heading into the knockout stages.

Clontarf suffered their only defeat of the championship to date at the hands of St Sylvesters in round three.  They bounced back from that loss to register a shock victory over a hotly tipped Na Fianna side a defeat delivered on Na Fianna's home turf. Clontarf followed up that performance with another victory this time over Fingallians. This win secured their place in the senior semi-final.

Also on Wednesday evening Na Fianna suffered their second senior championship defeat in a row this time to St Sylvesters having lost to Clontarf by two points the previous week. The 2021 and 2023 runners up subsequently bowed out of the 2024 championship.

Thomas Davis leaped frogged Ballyboden St Endas on the championship table moving into second spot following an impressive 2-07 to 1-07 win over the girls from the Firhouse Road. Former Dublin star, Siobhan McGrath togged out for her club for the first time this season taking up a position in the centre of the Thomas Davis defence.

Kilmacud Crokes as we know are chasing three in a row of County senior titles while their semi-final opponents Clontarf will be attempting to make some history for themselves by qualify for their first senior championship final.

St Sylvesters are also seeking a first senior final appearance as a single identity having lost the 2007 final to Ballyboden St Endas as a merged team with neighbour’s Naomh Mearnog.

Thomas Davis last senior championship final outing came in 2022. On that occasion they lost out to Kilmacud Croke by 2-09 to 0-12 on what was a historic night for the Stillorgan club as they claimed their inaugural Dublin SFC title.

We have now reached the business end of the senior championship and we have two exciting senior championship contests to look forward to next week!
