The sun was at the highest point by the third game, with it beating down and not a breeze to be felt. The St. Marks side had a long way to travel from the far end of the southside, but that did not deter them from the exhibition they were going to show at Innisfails own home turf. Both sides started off strong with number 11, Lauren Egan from Innisfails being a great menace to St. Marks.
However, number 8, Abigail Byrne got her team going by scoring two points one after another, she was denied a goal by the Innisfails goalkeeper, Lauren Birmingham who made a great save to keep her team in the match at the early stages. She was kept busy with another attempt on goal by number 14, Carli Deane of St. Marks which was saved again.
However, Abigail Byrne scored another point, followed by her teammate Layla Murphy booting it over the bar to put the Tallaght side ahead with a comfortable lead heading into halftime.
St. Marks opened up the second half with a point from their number 11, Layla Murphy, who wasn’t letting Innisfails have a chance. St. Marks number 6, Debbie Adesoye showed one of the greatest displays of a centre back that hasn’t been seen in a long time, she was piling on the pressure to the Innisfail forwards and not letting a single one past her, her long kicking range should be studied by NASA.
Abigail Byrne had the referee busy putting scores into her notebook by adding another point for her side, along with number 13, Kiana O’Connor to extend their sides lead. Innisfails didn’t give up even with the hot sun radiating down on all of those on the pitch, however, it wasn’t to be their day as Byrne for St. Marks sealed the deal for her teams win with her shaking the back of the net with an excellent goal. Both teams had stand out performances, but the St. Marks team overall where the better side.
