Team News Dublin v Kerry LIDL NFL Rd 1

First Dublin team selection of 2024 has been announced.
Dublin take on Kerry this Saturday (Jan 20th) in the opening round of the LIDL NFL with Mick Bohan naming a starting fifteen which includes eight players who began the All-Ireland final versus the Kingdom on August 15th last.
Niamh Crowley, Leah Caffrey, Niamh Donlon, Lauren Magee, Martha Byrne, Caoimhe O’Connor, Orlagh Nolan and Jodi Egan are all handed starting posts for this Saturdays eagerly awaited clash with reigning league champions, Kerry. Team captain Carla Rowe is on the bench.
Coming into the side are goalkeeper, Rachael Fleming from Kilmacud Crokes who excelled for her club in their championship campaign which saw Crokes capture both Dublin and Leinster titles for a second year in a row. Fleming was part of the panel in 2019 and made her NFL debut versus Tipperary the same year.
Hannah Hegarty makes a return to inter County football having last lined out with the footballers in 2015 when she captained the Dublin minor team in their All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Cork. Hegarty joins Lauren Magee and Martha Byrne on the half back line.
Three times All Ireland winner and former All Star (2019), Olwen Carey makes a welcome return to the Dublin senior squad after taking some time away from the County football scene, she partners Chloe Darby at midfield.
Up front, Katie Murphy is in line to make her NFL debut. Murphy was the 2023 Leinster minor final player of the match having bagged 2-00 from play in Dublin’s win over Wicklow. She is named at corner forward alongside Niamh Hetherton and Annabelle Timothy
The action gets underway in Parnell Park at 5.15pm.
