TG4 Senior Championship Quarter Final

Sunday July 16th, 2pm

MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey

LIVE on TG4

Dublin management have named their team for this Sundays crunch quarter final meeting with Donegal in Ballybofey. In total there are six changes to the Dubs starting fifteen from that which defeated Cavan on the 25th of June last.

Coming into the starting line up are Leah Caffrey, Martha Byrne, Aoife Kane, Caoimhe O’Connor, Jodi Egan and Orlagh Nolan. Making way are Grainne Fitzsimons, Faye O’Connell Bell, Niamh Hetherton, Annabelle Timothy, Dannielle Lawless and Sinéad Wylde.

Donegal boss, Maxi Curran will be hoping his side can continue their miraculous championship form especially in front of their home support.

Donegal have bounced back from a disastrous national football league campaign whereby they didn’t register a single win to causing a shock in the championship when claiming the Ulster provincial title with a superb victory over Armagh. Donegal subsequently brought their Ulster championship winning form into the All-Ireland series clocking up victories over Waterford and Meath respectably.

The two Counties meet at the same stage of the competition last season with Donegal causing a major upset when sending Mick Bohan’s chargers crashing out of the championship with a 3-07 to 1-07 victory. It was the first time since 2012 that Dublin had failed to reach an All-Ireland semi-final.

Dublin gained revenge for that 2022 quarter final defeat when the two teams meet in the LIDL NFL earlier this year. Dublin finished that game winners by 2-13 to 0-06. However since that April meeting a new look Dublin and rejuvenated Donegal have both morphed into serious All Ireland title contenders with the 2023 TG4 SFC seen by many as the most open competition in many years.

Come 3.15pm or there abouts on Sunday afternoon, one provincial champions season will come to an end while the other will march on to a semi-final meeting with either Cork or Armagh on July 29th next in Semple Stadium, Thurles.

Match official, Garryowen McMahon from Mayo will get proceedings underway at 2pm, watch the game live and free only on TG4. Tickets also remain on sale for the game from www.universe.com
