Team News Dublin v Cavan

TG4 Senior Football Championship Rd 2

Sunday June 25th, 2pm

Kingspan Breffni Park

Dublin management have made a total of seven changes to their starting fifteen for this Sundays TG4 SFC round two meeting with Cavan.

Following on from Dublin’s high tempo opening round encounter with Kerry last Saturday a number of Dubs are nursing knocks.  The eight-day turnaround between championship fixtures did not offer some players the necessary recovery period necessitating in Mick Bohan having to make changes to his selection.

Out of the Dublin side for Sundays clash with Cavan are Leah Caffrey, Martha Byrne, Eilish O’Dowd, Lauren Magee, Caoimhe O’Connor, Jodi Egan and Chloe Darby.

Coming into the Dublin starting fifteen are Grainne Fitzsimons, Niamh Donlon, Jennifer Dunne, Niamh Hetherton, Annabelle Timothy, Dannielle Lawless and Sinéad Wylde.

Cavan’s last competitive outing came in the TG4 Ulster championship some six weeks ago where they suffered a twenty-five-point defeat at the hands of a rampant Armagh outfit. Two weeks previous, the Breffni County ran eventual Ulster champions Donegal close in the opening round of the Ulster SFC with just five points separating the two teams on the final whistle.

No doubt, Sunday’s game will be an interesting encounter. Dublin need to bounce back from last Saturdays two-point defeat to Kerry in order to try and secure a place in the quarter finals. While Cavan will be intent on causing an upset in front of their home crowd and give their season a kick start – the result of this game will have huge implications for both teams!
